چکیده

The present study was conducted from March to June at Post Graduate Lab Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, SHUATS experiment in factorial CRD with four replications. onion variety Gavran taken for evaluation. Thirteen treatment combinations comprise five treatments (Neem leaf powder (3, 5, 7 g/kg seeds); turmeric (5, 10, 15%), Bael (4, 6%) pepper @ 20, 25 30 seed) along control two storage container: zip lock bag plastic container. Seedlings stored container exhibited highest germination percent (71.92%), rate (2.77), root length(5.82 cm), shoot length (6.74 seedling (12.57 fresh weight (178.41 mg) dry (18.91 g) vigor Index-I (916.12), index-II (1.37), growth (0.143), electrical conductivity (0.853 dSm-1) ratio (1.167). Moreover, the seed treated neem 5 seeds show best result term quality parameter viz (82.75%), (3.19), (4.83 (9.16 (17.24 (191.44 g), (23.65 index I (1426.86), II (1.96), (0.203), (0.80 (1.133) as compared end 3 months storage. concluded that combining containers can expand storability under ambient conditions.

4. Physical, chemical and bioactive properties of onion (Allium cepa L.) seed and seed oil

Onion (Allium cepa L.) is one of the economically important vegetable crops grown in Turkey. In this study, some physico-chemical and antioxidant properties, volatile compounds and fatty acid composition of ten different onion seeds were investigated. The fatty acid composition and volatile compounds were analyzed by Gas Chromatography (GC) and Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), resp...

Altered leaf and root emissions from onion (Allium cepa L.) grown under elevated CO2 conditions

Elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations ([CO2]) have been hypothesized to increase photosynthesis rates and volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions; however, field measurements from a select group of conifer and angiosperm trees have shown that VOC emissions are in fact not affected or reduced by elevated CO2 levels. To broaden the understanding of how different plant species respond to eleva...

Determination of antidiabetic activity in Allium cepa (onion) tissue cultures.

Seedling, seedling parts and callus cultures of onion were tested for their antidiabetic activity by feeding the tissue-extracts to diabetic rats. The results indicated much higher antidiabetic activity in callus cultures as compared to natural bulbs of onion. These results may be of pharmaceutical significance since the callus can be used as an alternative source for the isolation of antidiabe...
